So, you want to create a USENET newsgroup in the dfw.*
hierarchy?
To create a newsgroup in the dfw.* hierarchy, the following process must
be followed:
- Propose the group in
dfw.usenet.config. A charter and short newsgroup description
line should be included. A charter template is available. Follow
this link for the
formatted html, or follow this link for the raw
html which generates the formatted charter.
- Place the proposal open for discussion for some amount of time
(when the flaming stops, it is probably adequately well refined. :-)
- Hold a two week public voting period. During this time, all votes,
for or against, should be posted to dfw.usenet.config by the voter.
- At the end of the two week period, if there are at least twenty
(20) more positive votes than negative votes, the regional news czar
will issue the group creation message. The proposal proponent is
expected to forward the group charter and description to the news czar
at news-czar@cirr.com.
If you have any questions about the D/FW area USENET news pages,
please send mail to news-czar@cirr.com.
