Welcome to Lake Big Fish

Lake Big Fish, also known as Backyard Wildlife Habitat #16518, is an oasis nestled in the suburban sprawl of Plano, Texas. Lake Big Fish is also a registered Texas Wildscape Backyard Wildlife Habitat (Texas Wildscape #712). There is a pond (of course there is a pond, why do you think it's called Lake Big Fish?), nesting sites for birds, an arbor with honeysuckle and jasmine, and bright flowers to attract butterflies and honeybees. Lake Big Fish was certified as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation in August 1995. It was certified as a Texas Wildscape by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in August 1996.

Places to go, things to do ...

Why not take a tour of Lake Big Fish and the surrounding garden? See the lake, well, OK, the pond, in my backyard. Visit with the fish who live in the pond, the butterflies and birds who visit and all of the other urban wildlife who call Lake Big Fish home.

Besides the birds, bugs and fish, Lake Big Fish has several more mundane residents. There's Murphy the Silly Dog, who is in charge of Security and Vermin Control. And, of course, the cats who as Chief Architects must approve all landscape changes as well as assist Murphy with Pest Control.

Who is Liz?

I'm Liz, the chief caretaker (cat food supplier, dog walker, pond cleaner, take your pick, they all fit) for Habitat #16518 and its inhabitants. I'm also the photographer and designer for these pages.

I have an alter ego. Actually, I have several alter egos (personality problems? Nah. Just keeping life interesting) but I'm only going to tell you about one of them.

My favorite alter ego is The Renaissance Faire Junkie. As the Renaissance Faire Junkie I do 2 things: I visit Renaissance Faires and I take lots and lots of pictures. I've got so many pictures from different Renaissance Faires that I created a separate home page for the Renaissance Faire Junkie and linked in the various Faires that I've visited under that page. I have pages for Scarborough Faire, the Maryland Renaissance Festival, the Arizona Renaissance Festival, the Bristol Renaissance Faire, Hawkwood Fantasy Faire, the Texas Renaissance Festival and the Ohio Renaissance Faire. Plus lots of links, a Rogues' Gallery and the 4th Annual Gath of Baal Memorial Jousting Tournament.

Links, of course

What would a web site be without lists of some of my favorite places to visit? I've placed some links on the appropriate pages (for example, you can find links to other cat's pages on my cats' home page). And there are Lady Elizabeth's Links as well as all of the Net and Web Rings that I've joined. Just browse through the pages, and you will find links to all sorts of interesting places.
