You are hereby assigned to the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Your expense account number is 2349067754.

Your primary mission is to escort a renowned Russian nuclear scientist named Igor Platov. Dr. Platov will be presenting a device he calls "The Nuclear Cleaner" at the International Atomic Power Conference. Attendance is expected to be high, and we expect foreign agents in the area.

Naturally, as escort, you are expected to keep records of his whereabouts, who he meets with, and so on. Also, he is a possible defection risk, as he has recently requested the right to emigrate to the United States, and was summarily denied. We believe that his new wife may have been the reason he requested this, and have begun researching her past. Other than this, though, he has been a loyal citizen and should be treated with the proper respect due a man of his position.

Attached is a intercepted file photo of a CIA agent suspected of inviegling secrets from highly placed officials in our government. Be on the lookout for her, and be wary -- she is very devious and cunning.

Dr. Platov must not be allowed to escape. He is a vital national resource, as his recent invention shows. We have great expectations for him.

For the glory of the Motherland!

It must be brought to your attention that the wife Dr. Platov, Irina Platov, has disappeared from the University compound. Her current whereabouts are unknown. You are instructed to tighten security around Dr. Platov. We believe he is attempting to defect; without his wife under our supervision, we have little to tie him to us. Our investigation into her past has revealed little of value.

As stated before, this may not be allowed. Dr. Platov is simply too vital to Mother Russia.

Your mission has changed.

Fifteen days ago, a group of terrorists in the Ukrainian province broke into a top-secret nuclear research facility and stole a sizable quantity of weapons grade fissionable material from their vault -- enough to construct at least one nuclear device. Needless to say, if this material fell into the wrong hands, the damage that could occur would be immeasurable.

You must recover this material at all costs, and quietly. Currently, we believe that no other government knows of this incident. The embarrassment that the Motherland would suffer if other nations learned of our security failure would be extreme. As you know, we are in the middle of delicate talks with the other nuclear powers over just these issues, especially with the United States clamoring for their CIA to "keep an eye on things" for us.

We have been contacted by a group claiming to have information regarding the whereabouts of the nuclear material. We do not know who they are; the message was delivered anonymously. You are to meet with them at "Aromas," a coffee shop located at the east side of the Frankford and Pear Ridge intersection. The meeting time is 1015 in the morning. How they came by the fact that we are interested in the nuclear material is of secondary importance, but if it should slip, take a note of it.

Keeping track of Dr. Platov is, of course, important, but secondary to recovering the material.

Regarding that mission, we have located where Irina Platov is hiding. She is in Dallas and moves often, but we have attached a tail to her. This information comes from our operatives in the international criminal conspiracy known as the "Syndicate".

Unfortunately, you are our only team in the area, and the nuclear material is higher priority, so this information will have to wait.

Needless to say, these orders must also not fall in the wrong hands.

For the glory of the Motherland!

A group has contacted us with information about various underground activities in the Dallas area. We believe they may have information which will be of use to us.

Meet them at the Frankford library, on Frankford west of Davenport and east of Preston at 1130.

For the glory of the Motherland!

Roleplaying notes:
Ok, you're with the KGB - a legitimate government agency. Yes, you sometimes have to do shady stuff, but in the end you're still with the white hats. You do what's necessary, but you aren't a pack of ruthless killers. Try to keep a low profile to avoid any "incidents" that the media might latch onto. Stick to your mission, keep in touch with your superiors, and remember .. the US is, technically, a friendly country now. The US media is often sympathetic to your country's plight .. they love a good sob story.
