Who are we?

The North Texas Water Garden Society is a nonprofit organization that was formed to encourage a greater appreciation and interest in water gardens. The NTWGS also promotes the study and culture of aquatic plants, fish and ponds.

We provide information on all aspects of water gardening, and publish a monthly newsletter, Water Works, that contains articles of interest to the beginner as well as the advanced water gardener.

Now that the official statement is out of the way, the NTWGS is a bunch of folks who have ponds, wish they had ponds, or just like the idea of water gardening. We are located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area (that's in Texas, USA, y'all ).

Meetings

Meetings are held on the second Tuesday of each month at the Dallas Water Utilities building at 8915 Adlora Lane in Dallas. Go to MapQuest and see where Adlora Lane is located.

The meeting starts at 7:30 PM, but generally most people come at 7:00 to socialize and talk about ponds. Each month's meeting will feature a different guest speaker and topic. Please see the latest topics below.

Events and Projects

Pond Tour

Each year in June, the NTWGS sponsors the Annual Tour of Ponds. This is a self-guided tour of our members ponds across the metroplex. You purchase a tour book and drive around Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and visit our members ponds. There are big ponds, small ponds, multiple ponds, ponds with streams, ponds with waterfalls and just about any other landscaping or pondscaping feature that you can imagine.

The 18th Annual Tour of Ponds was such a success that we're already hard at work on the 19th Annual Tour of Ponds for 2010. If you are interested in finding out more about the pond tour, please contact our Pond Tour Chairperson or visit the Pond Tour information page.

Projects:

The NTWGS regularly attends the local home and garden shows. Members are available at the NTWGS booth to answer questions about water gardening and pondkeeping. We donate our time and manpower to help maintain the Leftwich Reflecting Pool at the Texas Discovery Gardens located in Fair Park and the elephant stream at the Dallas Zoo. We also have a fish and plant exchange, free aquatic plant potting workshop, and we are very involved in koi rescue.
